Every wonder what Safe2Help Illinois is all about and why is it on the back of student IDs?

Safe2HelpIL is a 24/7 program where students can use a free app, text/phone, and website (Safe2HelpIL.com) to share information on school safety issues in a confidential environment.

The Safe2HelpIL initiative offers students, teachers, staff and parents a safe and confidential way to share information that may help prevent suicides, bullying, school violence and other threats to student safety. Students can use the helpline to share concerns about themselves or others.

  • Safe2HelpIL is available 24/7 at no cost to all school districts in the state.
  • The helpline is staffed by specially-trained safety professionals.
  • In the absence of a trusted adult, students can use a free app, text/phone or the website (Safe2HelpIL.com) to share school safety issues in a confidential environment.
  • Information obtained by Safe2HelpIL will remain confidential to ensure student privacy and to protect the integrity of the program.
  • The program is not intended to suspend, expel or punish students; rather, the goal is to encourage students to “Seek Help Before Harm.”
Safe2HelpIL is available to everyone in our district through the State of Illinois. Students in upper grades have Safe2HelpIL information printed on the back of their student IDs for easy access.

Visit the Safe2HelpIL website to learn more.

We ask all parents/guardians to talk to your child(ren) about Safe2HelpIL resources.  Please consider downloading the free app and encourage your older children to download it, too.  Above all, tell them to speak-up to a trusted adult (at home or at school) or use Safe2HelpIL to report concerns.  Working together, we can promote well-being and prevent school violence.
