The Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 Board of Education approved the hiring of Ukyah Wilburn to be an assistant principal at Collinsville Middle School beginning in the 2025-26 school year.

Beginning in the 2025-26 School Year
Collinsville, Illinois – March 5, 2025 – Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 announced Ukyah Wilburn has been named assistant an principal for Collinsville Middle School beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
Mrs. Wilburn is currently a fifth grade math and science teacher at Dorris Intermediate School.
Since 2010, she has worked in several CUSD 10 schools in various capacities: student teacher, long-term substitute, educational assistant and fourth grade teacher.
She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education, masters degree in curriculum and instruction, and specialist degree in educational leadership from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
“The desire to lead was put on my heart in 2018 as I began to learn what leadership in education really was,” says Wilburn, “Now, seven years later, I get to move up and bring my passion to the middle school. I am beyond excited to see what the future holds.”
Mrs. Wilburn is filling the assistant principal position that will be vacated at the end of the 2024-25 school year when Madonna Harris retires.
In the announcement of Wilburn’s hiring, CMS Principal Brad Snow said: “We are excited to have Ukyah join our team at Collinsville Middle School. Her calm demeanor, engaging personality and attention to details set her apart from the rest. She has a wealth of knowledge in regards to data that will help CMS continue to grow academically. We look forward to seeing what she can do for our school.”

Mrs. Wilburn was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, where she graduated from MacArthur High School. She currently resides in Collinsville with her husband, Cameron, and three children.
“Camille, soon to be 15, is a student-athlete at Collinsville High School; Kyrie is six and is learning how to thrive in the world with Autism as his superpower; Kylah, who is two, is our rainbow baby girl who says she is ready for kindergarten! I am surrounded by the most supportive family and community.
“I just love to laugh and make the most of every situation. I am pretty competitive and enjoy playing strategy games. Spending time with family and friends is what really charges my batteries,” says Wilburn.
Ukyah Wilburn looks forward to transitioning to her new position this summer in preparation for the 2025-26 school year.
“They say 'Once a Kahok Always a Kahok.' Collinsville may not have been where I grew up, but my career was born and raised here. It is not just a school district to me, this is my community. I am honored to serve and grow here,” she says.
Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 comprises 12 schools, serving 6,100+ students PreK-12 in Madison & St. Clair Counties in southwestern Illinois. Collinsville Middle School serves 870+ students in 7th and 8th grades.
