February 14, 2025 Update from Dr. Skertich

Posted Date: 2/14/25 (8:00 PM)

Kahok Families,

Happy Valentine's Day!  As we continue through another successful school year, there are several important updates we want to share with you regarding safety, student success and the outstanding accomplishments of our Kahok community.

School Safety & Threat Awareness
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. The Collinsville Police Department, in collaboration with Madison County State’s Attorney Thomas Haine and district administrators, created an important video addressing school safety and the consequences of making threats against a school.  The video will be shown at school in grades 4-12 in the weeks ahead.

We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to watch this video with your children to better understand the measures in place to protect our students and staff, and most importantly, the impact of threats and how district and law enforcement officials handle them.

Your support in reinforcing these safety efforts at home is invaluable. Watch for the video to be sent to you via ParentSquare or use THIS LINK to view it.

District Brochure & Academic Excellence
Attached, you will find a digital copy of our updated district brochure, which provides an overview of the district’s academic programs, individualized instruction initiatives, planned facility upgrades and opportunities that prepare our students for life after high school. We are committed to ensuring every student has the resources they need to succeed academically and be successful after graduation. Please take a moment to review this information to stay informed about the possibilities available to your child.

The Importance of Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential for academic and social growth. Being present in the classroom allows students to engage in meaningful discussions, collaborate with peers and develop critical skills needed for their future. We encourage all families to reinforce the importance of consistent attendance, as every school day provides an opportunity for learning and growth.

Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Last night, the district proudly celebrated the Collinsville CUSD 10 Kahok Hall of Fame 2025 induction ceremony, where two teams and eight individuals were honored for their exceptional accomplishments. These Kahoks have left a lasting impact on our schools, our communities and the world!  We invite you to join us in celebrating their achievements. Their inspiring videos will be posted on the Hall of Fame website and shared on district social media in coming days.

Thank You for Your Support
Thank you for your constant dedication to our students.  As always, don’t forget to wear your purple and show your Kahok pride!
