August 23, 2024 Update for Families from Superintendent Dr. Skertich

Posted Date: 8/23/24 (9:00 AM)

Dear Kahok Families,

The 2024-25 school year is off to a great start! I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who helped make the first two weeks a success. The behind-the-scenes efforts of our custodians, central office staff, and our partners at First Student and Sodexo are greatly appreciated.

Additionally, the hard work of our principals, secretaries, teachers and non-certified staff is crucial not only before students arrive, but throughout the entire school year. Thank you for all that you do!

Now that the school year is in full swing, there’s very little downtime. Middle school baseball, cross country, and softball are already underway. The CHS 2024 Fall Kahok Kick-Off is tonight starting at 5:00 p.m. I strongly encourage everyone to come out to support and cheer our students as they compete and perform in events across the district this year.

As with any school year, questions, concerns or challenges may arise. We encourage families to reach out to your child’s teacher or principal whenever needed. We are here to help, and we believe that the best communication happens when students and their families are involved. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, seek assistance or share concerns. Working together is essential.

A great two-way communication tool is our district’s ParentSquare app.  It keeps you up-to-date on what’s happening in our district, your child’s classroom and school, and allows you to interact with posts, ask questions and send direct messages - all in your preferred language. If you have not already downloaded the app, use the attached information to get started today.

I have also included the 5th Annual State of the District report. The report offers a snapshot of the many efforts underway in our district that benefit our students and communities. It covers key areas such as communication, curriculum, assessments, early childhood education, English Language Learners, professional development, special education, and current initiatives. It also outlines facility improvements, financial information, and provides detailed insights into student services and technology.

Thank you for your constant dedication to our students.  Don’t forget to wear your purple and show your Kahok Pride! #ONFRIDAYSWEWEARPURPLE
