Follow us on Facebook! Collinsville CUSD 10 PreK Programs

Collinsville CUSD 10 serves children ages 3 to 5 years old through prekindergarten and early childhood special education classrooms.

OUR PROGRAMS SHARE THESE COMMON ELEMENTS:

  • Locations– Caseyville, Kreitner, Renfro, Maryville and Webster Elementary Schools
  • Curriculum – based on the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards with specialized instruction delivered to students with special needs
  • Parents – families are encouraged to participate in their child’s educational development by volunteering, attending monthly family events, and by serving on our Parent Advisory Committee
  • Cost – services are free to all families; funding is provided through the Illinois State Board of Education

The PreK/ECSE calendar generally follows the District 10 calendar, although with a later start date and additional Institute Days during the school year. Our programs provide a safe and optimum learning environment for our youngest students. Placements in each building are made with the goal of keeping children in the school closest to their home address whenever possible.

PRESCHOOL FOR ALL

Comprehensive education program for eligible 3- and 4-year-old children.

  • Goal – to provide eligible children with the readiness skills for success in kindergarten and beyond
  • Eligibility – determined through parent interview, rating scale, and screening scores with priority given to children in most need of support
  • Classrooms – a variety of settings to meet the needs of all students, including those with identified disabilities
  • Screening – a screening is required for PreK enrollment. Please call our office to register your child for a screening or follow THIS LINK.

The prekindergarten classrooms are provided through 2 competitive grants funded by the Illinois State Board of Education. Preschool for All and Preschool Expansion Grant funds support our PreK classrooms. A potential student must complete a screening and parents/guardians must complete an interview to determine risk factors for program eligibility. These factors include, but are not limited to, family income level, parent education level, family’s primary language other than English, homelessness, recent child welfare involvement, and past or current referral for special education evaluation.

Call Yesenia Malagon, PreK Secretary at (618) 346-6301 Option 3 to schedule a free developmental screening.

EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION

Programs for 3- to 5-year-old children who have identified special needs

  • Goal – to provide eligible children with access to specialized programming within the school day for their individual needs
  • Eligibility – determined through evaluation; children must exhibit a delay in one or more developmental areas
  • Classrooms – students who have been identified as needing special education due to a disability will receive services in one of our classrooms, as determined by the child’s Individual Education Program (IEP)

Contact Julie Murphy at (618) 346-6261 for more information.

BIRTH-3 PROGRAMS

Children are often identified with special needs during the time from birth to 3 years old. These students are referred to the district through Child and Family Connections and will be provided transition services to our programs.
