Spring is the time for state-required achievement tests to be administered.

Students in Unit 10 will be taking the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) in late March and April.

PARCC: Students in grades 3-8 will be tested in English language arts/reading and mathematics. The testing window is March 20-April 12. In addition to providing an individual look at student progress, PARCC scores for schools and districts are shared on the Illinois State Report Card each fall.

ISA: All fifth and eighth graders -- as well as some high school students -- will be tested between March 20 and April 28. ISA aligns with Illinois Learning Standards in science and helps families understand how well students are performing in high-demand STEM fields.

For a child to perform at his/her best on achievement tests:
- Make sure your child attends school on testing days
- Make sure your child is well-rested and has breakfast on test mornings
- Remind your child to ask questions if confused about test directions
- Let you child know you have confidence in his/her ability
- Advise your child not to worry about the test, just do his/her best

Schools and teachers will share detailed information with families about testing dates and expectations. Please contact your child's school if you have questions.
