Collinsville High School is raising funds to erect a memorial to honor the veterans of the Collinsville School District community. The project is among the school’s efforts as a recently designated Illinois Democracy School.

According to Barbara Lindauer, CHS social studies teacher and head of the Democracy School Team, “We have raised over $3,200 so far, which is enough for a small monument. However, we are still fundraising and hope to raise even more in order to build a more substantial monument that even better honors the sacrifices and commitments of our community’s veterans.”

The marker will be placed in the front of Collinsville High School near the flagpole.
Donations of any amount are welcome.

Questions should be directed to Barbara Lindauer blindaue@cusd.kahoks.org.

Checks can be made payable to Collinsville High School. Send donations to:

Illinois Democracy Schools demonstrate a commitment to fostering educated, informed and engaged citizens. Collinsville was named an Illinois Democracy School at the beginning of the school year. As part of their student engagement activities, the school organized a 9/11 tribute and held mock elections and debates during the 2016 election.
